Chrysler Kills Leasing Programs

This is very bad news for economic growth. The U.S. auto industry is a half a trillion dollar per year business that is driven substantially by auto loans. As a result, Chrysler’s decision to halt its leasing programs could have a significant impact on GDP, especially if other auto makers are headed this way, too. Former Bush economic advisor Larry Lindsey warned investors about the dire situation of auto paper on March 28, 2008 on CNBC. Watch Larry Lindsey’s auto paper video clip.
